      The waterproof performance of formaldehyde free ENF grade environmentally friendly particleboard has certain characteristics. The following analysis is conducted from the aspects of its own structure, adhesive properties, and practical application performance:
1. The relationship between board structure and waterproofing
       Tight structure: Non aldehyde ENF grade environmentally friendly particleboard is usually made by cutting wood and other raw materials into fragments of a certain specification, and then drying, gluing, paving, hot pressing and other processes. Its structure is relatively tight, and the internal shavings are interwoven with each other, which can to some extent prevent the rapid penetration of water and have a certain barrier effect on water.
       Waterproof treatment process: Some good formaldehyde free ENF grade environmentally friendly particle boards will undergo special waterproof treatment on the shavings during the production process, such as adding waterproofing agents, to further enhance their waterproof performance. After waterproof treatment, the particle board can form a protective film on the surface of the shavings when encountering moisture, slowing down the absorption rate of moisture.
2. The influence of adhesive properties on waterproofing
       The advantage of formaldehyde free adhesive: The reason why formaldehyde free ENF grade environmentally friendly particleboard can meet ENF grade environmental standards is because it uses formaldehyde free adhesive. Compared to traditional aldehyde containing adhesives, these formaldehyde free adhesives may have different characteristics in terms of water resistance. Some formaldehyde free adhesives themselves have good water resistance and can maintain good bonding strength in humid environments, making the board less prone to delamination, deformation, and other problems when exposed to water.
       Bonding effect and waterproof stability: Excellent formaldehyde free adhesives can firmly bond the shavings together, forming a stable structure. When in contact with moisture, this stable structure can better resist the erosion of moisture and reduce the performance degradation of the board caused by adhesive failure.
3. Waterproof performance in practical applications
       Short term waterproof performance is good: In daily use, if only occasionally exposed to a small amount of moisture, such as water stains accidentally spilled on the surface, formaldehyde free ENF grade environmentally friendly particleboard can cope well. Its surface usually has a certain degree of smoothness and hydrophobicity, and moisture does not immediately penetrate into the interior of the board. As long as it is wiped clean in a timely manner, it generally does not have a significant impact on the board.
       Long term waterproofing has certain limitations: however, if formaldehyde free ENF grade environmentally friendly particleboard is exposed to high humidity or direct contact with water for a long time, its waterproof performance may be challenged. Although it has undergone certain waterproof treatment, it is not a specialized waterproof board. Over time, moisture may gradually penetrate into the interior of the board, causing expansion, deformation, and even affecting its strength and service life.
